iPhone Widget site

by Greg Healy on Jun 19, 2007 at 11:00 PM

Widgity.comI am sure by now you are all tired of iPhone news, but I have got a bit more for you. In the last few days, a website called Widgety has popped up, claiming the title of “The first iPhone widget list.” At the moment, the site hasn’t launched, and isn’t due to launch until—you guessed it—June 29th. The website has pages for downloading widgets and how to create your own, which is a little suspicious to me, as all iPhone applications will have to be displayed in Safari. Additionally, there is also a page for sharing your widgets, and three of the four iPhone commercials have been embedded for your enjoyment.

It seems like this might not be a “for-real” website, unless the creators know something that the rest of the world doesn’t. Come June 29th, this site may end up just listing all of the available web-applications for the iPhone, though that still doesn’t explain the download page. But—there’s always a “but”—if somehow Google Gears ends up being ported to the iPhone, then maybe offline-widgets are still feasible.
