Apple is looking to expand the iPhone’s reach as far as it can this holiday season. Not long after announcing that Best Buy would become the first non-Apple or AT&T store to sell the iPhone, Wal-Mart is next in line to sell the iPhone, according to Boy Genius Report.
Wal-Mart doesn’t quite jive with Apple’s exclusive and upscale image (though Wal-Mart’s recent re-branding is more high-end), so this is a likely move to push out as many iPhones as possible this holiday season. Apple has been extremely aggressive with the iPhone 3G, still heavily marketing it in television spots in October, three months after it first came out, a long duration for any Apple ad to run.
There were also rumors that Radio Shack will be carrying the phone, but it is unclear whether talks have stalled or if the news has just been better-kept/overshadowed by this Wal-Mart news.
