iPhone tip that could save you thousands when traveling

by Robert Nelson on Sep 13, 2007 at 01:00 PM

So far we have seen way to many complaints from people who have taken their iPhone overseas only to come back with a huge bills due to roaming. This can be solved quickly and easily by removing the SIM card. If you use a simple paper clip you can remove the SIM card and have a Wi-Fi enabled iPod.

This way you can check and access your mail over Wi-Fi and not be subject to any high roaming fees. At the very least put the phone into Airplane Mode or switch the settings for the mail to not Auto-Check. Just in case you are unsure of the removal process, Comsumerist reader John has made a nice video demonstrating just how easy it is.
