iPhone Tethering coming for a price, not free like MMS
It was quite a while ago that AT&T announced it would at one time support tethering on Apple’s iPhone. Since then, the internet has seen various methods to get tethering on the iPhone without the support of either Apple or AT&T (at one point, there was even an app in the App Store for this). Well, now the iPhone 3.0 software is upon us, and it officially supports a tethering application from Apple, but users won’t be able to take advantage of it until later this summer when AT&T actually tells us the details (release date, prices). That said, there are some rumors floating around of what AT&T may announce.
AppModo claims to have a source from whom they’ve received information with these details. Their source informed them that tethering would be supported by AT&T in mid Julyrather than at the end of this summerfor a price of $55 a month. I’m not sure how reliable these sources are, as $55 seems like an extremely high price for tethering. That said, the iPhone has caused much more internet usage on AT&T’s network than any other mobile device. Also, I don’t see how it could come out in mid July without hearing anything from AT&T yet. I would take this one with a grain of salt.
