iPhone SDK delayed a couple weeks?

by Stephen Chinnadorai on Feb 23, 2008 at 06:34 PM

iPhoneThe iPhone (and iPod Touch) SDK may be delayed for 1-3 weeks according to a blog post at BusinessWeek by Arik Hesseldahl. No reasons for why this delay may happen are known or mentioned in the post.

However I’m also hearing that the situation is fluid, and a lot of last-minute decisions are close to being made about what precisely will or will not be disclosed next week, if anything. There are, apparently, a lot of moving parts to something this complex.

Hesseldahl, the writer of this blog article, contributed to a BusinessWeek report published one day before Steve Jobs made the official announcement regarding Apple’s plans to release an SDK. I don’t know whether or not to believe this rumor, even if the writer has a good track record. Apple come out with very unexpected things at the last minute. Although, I am too wondering when Apple will release this SDK. It’s now late-February, and we haven’t seen any sign of release. I’m sure Apple’s reasoning for the delay will be as good as their excuse for not including 3G in the iPhone. I’m in no rush to use the SDK myself anyway, as I’m using the 1.1.3 jailbreak, but I know a lot of people that have been holding out the jailbreak and eagerly awaiting Apple’s official alternative.
