French site Mac4Ever has released a report claiming that the rumored January 27th event Apple will also see the announcement of the iPhone OS 4.0 Beta. This updated version of the software development kit (SDK) will supposedly also include tools for developing on Apple’s new tablet device, which is rumored to have a larger screen than the iPhone and iPod Touch. This will help developers to adapt their applications for the higher screen resolution, and could also mean that the iPhone may receive a high density screen as well. If the rumors of the hardware are true, this software update would only make sense as well.

While the site explains they are not fully confident in these claims, MacRumors points out that this site has been correct numerous times in the past about Apple events. Furthermore, their claims do match up with rumors from other sources meaning that the sources of each of these rumors may only have a piece of the overall story. We’ll have to wait until the end of the month to find out.
