iPhone OS 3.0

Apple has officially released iPhone OS 3.0. The software upgrade is available through iTunes for free for iPhone owners, and $9.95 for owners of the iPod touch. This update includes some of the features that many felt should have been part of the initial iPhone rollout, including cut, copy & paste, a landscape keyboard, and MMS functionality, but brings plenty of new and enhanced features, as well.

With the update, Apple has improved the performance of programs such as the built-in Safari browser, added the ability to connect compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones, car kits, or other accessories (including iPhone gaming accessories), and offers the ability to log in to to your YouTube account via the YouTube app. Certain features of iPhone OS 3.0 are available only to 3G or 3G S owners, whereas others are restricted by location (for example, AT&T doesn’t support tethering...yet).

Appletell will be providing first looks into the new capabilities over the next few days, so be sure to check back often.
