iPhone nano predictions inaccurate

iPhone Family

Recent reports that Apple could be releasing a cheaper/simpler version of the iPhone have been played down by financial institution JP Morgan. A report made by Kevin Chang earlier claimed that this iPhone was supposed to ship in late 2007. Unfortunately, this was based on unconfirmed sources and a single patent filing.

“We believe a near-term launch would be unusual and highly risky,” said Senior analyst Bill Shope. “It took Apple over two years to launch its first low-end iPod (the iPod mini).” However, JP Morgan estimates that the iPhone is more likely to see upgrades from EDGE to 3G wireless in the same form-factor through early 2008.
