iPhone 1.1.3 update leads to problems?

by Stephen Chinnadorai on Jan 20, 2008 at 01:25 PM

iPhone Apparently, the latest iPhone & iPod Touch update isn’t fixing problems reported from the last version. Instead, it’s causing more problems. Some of the problems which have been reported in 1.1.3 include:

  • Error message during/after install of iTunes 7.6 and firmware 1.1.3
  • Loss of sound output from the iPhone’s built-in speakers
  • Bluetooth devices that worked with 1.1.2 no longer work
  • Mail problems

It’s a shame to see all these problems in 1.1.3, because it probably means we’re going to see another update, 1.1.4, fixing these bugs. The features in this update are quite stunning for a free (for iPhone users) update. The graphics power of the iPhone/iPod Touch in this update also impresses me. Like the way the icons on the home screen “jiggle” around, and the Google Maps animations. It’s almost like the iPhone/iPod Touch has some sort of Core Animation like Leopard; that possibly developers could use in their apps with the SDK. That would be really cool - because the iPhone is an incredibly powerful device, it needs some great software. iPhone Atlas has listed some of the reported iPhone problems and some of the remedies that you can try.
