Gizmodo’s Brian Lam has received some juicy details on the mysterious Apple tablet. The insider “may or may not” have sat in Apple meetings regarding the tablet, and apparently has held mock ups of the device. The insider says the device sports a 10 inch screen, and shares numerous design elements with the iPhone: a black glossy back and the single home button on the front. Additionally, the device will come in two editions, “... one with a webcam and one for educational use.” Educational use? My guess is that one version will simply be more expensive and have more features (like a webcam) than the other. The deviceat $700 through $900will fit between the price gap left by the iPhone and MacBook, as expected.
The inside source also mentioned that the device has been going under various code names for the past four to six years. However, Lam was asked to not divulge the current code name of the product. The first prototype was built around the end of 2008, meaning that the device itself would be due to market around this upcoming holiday season.
It seems as though the “iTablet” is very real and is due to be revealed quite soon.
