Full FeediFund only backing two developers?
iFund, the $100 million program set up by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers for the iPhone, is currently only supporting two developers, which means only two apps will come from it so far. According to BussinessWeek, these apps are Pelago’s Whrrl and iControl. Whrrl simply uses the iPhone’s map capabilities and offers more details to particular areas you are searching in, such as a restaurant. On the other hand, iControl, which I wrote about as a rumor a while back, would turn your iPhone into a universal remote for your home, which I think would be pretty awesome.
I find it somewhat strange that such a large program with so much money involved would only produce two applications. Although both of these applications sound extremely useful and interesting, I would have though there would be much more. Since we won’t know for sure what’s going on until June 9th at WWDC, there could be more behind this. As for now, all we can do as usual is speculate on what this might mean or what is really going to be announced. So go ahead, let the rumors fly!

Not so weird. Many ideas do not require funding at all to implement as they can be done by a small handful of developers, larger scale ideas that need backing are probably more of the enterprise sort, and that requires more detail on how the enterprise program will function.
