iFreeMem 2.0: For when you just don’t feel like rebooting

by Nicholas Montgomery on Feb 25, 2008 at 01:20 PM

iFreememOS X has a great memory management system, but if you use your computer for very long periods of time without shutting down or restarting, you may be seeing those beach balls and your computer slow down. When you close applications that have used large amounts of RAM, they often continue to use that RAM even after they are quit. This issue is generally solved by a simple reboot. iFreeMem is a tool that enables you to “optimize” your memory. This superb utility has just been updated to version 2.0 with complete support for Leopard.

TUAW made a great point that if you have 3 GB of RAM, and you launch CPU consuming application like Photoshop or Motion, these apps will take up almost 800 MB of your RAM and still hog that RAM after you quit them. iFreeMem is a great tool if you are a power users and would like to be more efficient and speed up your computer.

Try a 15-day day fully functional trial of iFreeMem.
