iDevGames opens iPhone/iPod Touch message board

by Josh Holat on Jun 11, 2008 at 11:19 AM

iDevGamesA community of Mac OS X game developers over at iDevGames has opened a message board to talk about iPod Touch and iPhone game development. The goal is to get developers together in a place where they can ask questions, get answers, and just talk about ideas for this sort of game development.  Editor-in-Chief Carlos Camacho said, “We want everyone to enjoy themselves and we want everyone to succeed in their goal of making games.” This looks like a great place to get started if you are a developer wanting to make the next great game for an emerging game platform, Cocoa Touch.

From a welcoming message over at the discussion boards, Carlos also adds, “The iPhone (and iPod) markets are poised to explode in the next few years, and the benefits to our core market, Apple Macintosh game developers, will be significant. Developers will be able to leverage their experience with Apple technologies to lead game development on these exciting, and much desired, gaming platforms.” He’s right. From all the demos at this year’s WWDC, it was apparent that many developers are heading in the gaming direction when it comes to their apps. With great graphics, a touch screen, and an accelorometer, the iPhone (and iPod Touch) makes for a whole new type of gaming platform, and I’m excited to see what such creative developers will come up with.
