Here comes the weekend again, and with the flood of new apps on the App Store, there are a ton of ways to not put all that free time to good use. Here’s a short list of free apps you may have missed. They’re fun, probably useless, but, best of all, free.
Cookie Bonus Solitaire - Free - I think solitaire could be the reason we have PCs today. And finally, you can play it on your iPhone or iPod Touch without having to pay. This game is made by Amplified Games, Inc., and they also offer a paid version. They both have a cookie theme, but the free version is not fat free…it’s ad supported.
Ezimba - Are you addicted to Photoshop? It’s okay, it’s an amazing program, and I can understand the withdrawals you might be going through when separated from Adobe’s beloved application. Well, Ezimba is here to try to help. It’s a mini-photoshop of sorts. It’s able to manipulate your photos in over 100 ways. From the basicslike brightness and contrastto some exotic transformations, Ezimba has you covered.
iChoose - It’s hard being random, but Talee Talee is trying to help. It’s a little app that simulates any one of a host of random events. It does coin tosses, yes/no, dice roles, and even a single card from a deck. Next time you need to have your choices determined by chance, you could do much worse than iChoose.
Magic iBall Deluxe - Still scratching your head on whether you need iChoose? Eric Redmond has your back. The i does things the 8 could never dream of, like be on the iPhone. Flip your iPhone or iPod Touch over, just like an old magic eight ball. Then look to the screen for guidance. It’s like carrying a magic eight ball in your pocket, only much less awkward.
Compass Free - Completely lost? Why open up Maps when you could use Masayuki Akamatsu’s compass app. Just orient your device as if the beam of light were coming straight from the sun and now you know where North is. Way more useful than maps.
That’s all I’ve got this week. Maybe it will be enough to keep you occupied this weekend. If not, there’s always Moonlight Mahjong Lite.
