Funambol preps synchronization apps for the iPhone 3G

by Arnold Zafra on Jun 11, 2008 at 04:27 PM

FunambolWith the iPhone 3G finally unveiled a couple of days ago, third-party developers are in a rush to announce their respective applications made specifically for the much publicized mobile phone. One of these developers is Funambol, which just announced an enhanced version of their native open source wireless sync application. Funambol has utilized the iPhone 2.0 SDK to allow would-be iPhone users to wirelessly sync PIM data with various email systems and clients.

Of course, the new Funambol sync application will be available as soon as the iPhone 3G gets released sometime next month. In July, iPhone 3G users can start downloading the sync app for free at the myFUNAMBOL site. But, for its initial release, the Funambol app can only sync the iPhone 3G contacts, while calendar and notes synching will follow immediately after, as promised by Funambol. In addition to providing this free open source application, Funambol also offers users with a web-based interface for accessing their data. This will more than add to the value of Funambol as an iPhone 3G application.
