Free Apps roundup for September 18th, 2009

Free Apps roundup for September 18th, 2009You’ll be glad to know this week’s offering of freebies on the App Store was much more substantial. I have games and apps and some novelty apps to keep one and all happy.

  • Tap Studio - The only app that currently allows you to tap, ala Tap Tap Revenge, to your own music. There’s a catch though, you have to program the taps yourself for each song you want to tap too. So, make it as hard or easy as you like. Too bad there wasn’t an option to download tap information for songs created by other users…perhaps in the future. But until then, just remember it’s free.
  • SkyMall - Shopping while in flight?  Yeah, there’s an app for that.  Your and my favorite shopping catalog is now available in app form, so grab it and browse.  I’d say buy, too, but hey, the browsing is where the fun stops for me, and I doubt I’m the only one.
  • Sports Illustrated * SI.com - I’m sure we have some sports nuts out there, and why just go to SI.com when there’s an app?  My thoughts exactly.  This provides a nice interface to all that sports info you desire so much.
  • Toy Story Photo Hunt - This is a spot-the-difference style game using Toy Story images.  Download it if you love Toy Story, and seriously, who doesn’t love Toy Story?
  • AXE: The Beautiful Game - Toy Story not your thing?  Doubtful, but just in case AXE has there own spot-the-differences game.  It has girls in it.  I doubt I need to say much more.
  • Touch Bible (KJV) - Yes, I did see how fast you clicked on the AXE download link after you read the word “girls.”  It’s okay, you can cleanse your soul with a Bible app.  This one is the King James version, and it’s all in the app, no Internet necessary.
  • 9,999,999 Crazy Fortune Cookies - I’d be surprised to find out there are exactly 9,999,999 fortunes included in this app, because who stops one shy of ten million?  Anyway, if straight up fortune cookies don’t bring a smile to your face, add your favorite fortune cookie suffix for a good laugh.
  • Army of Darkness Soundboard - I’m including this because I love Bruce Campbell.  This soundboard gives you easy access to 16 original audio clips from the cult classic movie.  Enjoy.
