Free Apps Roundup for January 30th, 2009

Free Apps Roundup for January 30th, 2009Once again, the App Store seems to be flooded with new apps and games, which is great for everyone around. This week I found a bunch of games and some useful apps as well.

  • Downhill Bowling Lite - As they put it, “Bowling made awesome.”  Who ever said that bowling wasn’t awesome to being with? Anyway, you throw a bowling ball down a hill, because there are pins standing somewhere down the hill, and we just can’t have that.
  • Super Monkey Ball Lite - Super Monkey Ball was available when the App Store was opened for business, so it’s nothing new really.  But if you don’t already have it, you can now try it out, with better controls than were first available might I point out. Pretty fun game by the way.
  • American Dominoes Lite - Play dominoes on your iPhone…with some restrictions. You can score up to 150 points on the medium difficulty level. At least you can see if you like dominoes before spending any cash.
  • FIREWALL: Defender Free - It is your mission to defend the vital interweb data from attack. The graphics look pretty good, and there’s a fair amount of content for a free version.
  • Bahh! - It’s a cartoon sheep for you iPhone.  Touch it and it goes bahhhhhhhh! That’s it. Awesome, if you’re easily entertained. They claim it’s only available for one week, but I don’t bahhhhhhlieve them. I’m sorry, that was bahhhhhd. My apologies.
  • Chronolite Timer - Run numerous timers simultaneously. I could see this being useful for cooking.
  • MyDVR - Use your iPhone to wirelessly control your TiVo Series3 or TiVoHD. Just download this and make sure remote control is enabled on your TiVo. Great, now you’re bound to lose your iPhone since it’s now a remote. Good news is you can call this remote.
  • TubeToGo - A companion app to Equinux’s The Tube. With this, you can watch recorded TV programs and schedule more from your iPhone.
