Free Apps Roundup for February 6th, 2009

Free Apps Roundup for February 6th, 2009It seems every week there are more and more good game demos becoming available. They’re great for wasting time, and probably long enough for you to lose interest. So, who cares if you can’t play the full game? You’d get sick of it after an hour anyway right?

  • Bounce On Lite - The lite version of Bounce On. It’s a smooth, sidescrolling platformer. It’s like labyrinth mixed with Sonic the Hedgehog. Tilt left or right to move accordingly and tap the screen to jump. Collect the gems and kill the bad guys, you know the drill.
  • Touch Physics Lite - It seems these physics based games are all the rage these days. You know what else is physics based? Real life. Anyway, you can play through 6 of the levels of the full game here. Basically, you draw shapes which are then created to solve puzzles. Wooooo!
  • The BOMB! - It’s a bomb, with no instructions. Disarm it. NOW!
  • PhotoUpLink - Take pictures with your iPhone and then use this app to share them via FTP. There are a lot of features built into this app, and it sounds like it’s only going to get better because the developer wants to add more services to its supported list.
  • FingerPiano Lite - It’s a finger piano app that will also attempt to help you to play songs without needing to read sheet music. If they included a points system, some hideously designed characters and at least one nearly impossible song they could call it Piano Hero. But they didn’t. Sad.
  • Fastlane Street Racing Lite -  Just what you need, another racing game. They say this one is more polished than the rest. Download it to find out if it’s smooth enough for you.
  • Crater Naut Lite - Like flying to the moon and then landing the original moon lander, only a bit cheaper and safer. Just don’t let your kids play it; it has accelerometer based attitude controls. Heck, even my attitude would accelerate out of control if this version wasn’t easier than the full version. Psha!
  • Blue Defense Lite - You’re the blue orb, which apparently represents earth, or some other blue ball with 6.7 billion people on it. Kill the red stuff floating towards you in space. You won’t really need any more instructions. Sometimes it’s refreshing to have a simple shooter.
