TextExpander
TextExpander is a valuable tool for me; I use it countless times a day. It allows you to assign shortcuts for text or even scripts. For example, I have it set that if I type “img=”, it adds in the correct text to insert an image using HTML.
It is also very useful when you must write something similar, or the same, many times. I have heard of a lot of journalists having a TextExpander shortcut for their product requests.

Wallet
I covered Wallet a number of days ago. Wallet is a great tool for archiving and securely storing confidential information such as passwords, license codes for applications and credit card numbers.
The latest version, which was recently released, has one of the nicest interfaces I’ve seen for a while in mac applications.

Coda
Coda is the ultimate in coding applications for the mac. While it is not the most powerful, it is the most feature rich. It combines an Editor, FTP engine, a mini browser for previewing, a graphical CSS editor, a terminal for connecting to remote servers and a book reader for browsing documentation.
Panic, the makers of Coda, have been able to master almost ever aspect of web development with Coda. I am not trying to pretend Coda is perfect for everyone, but for the majority of web masters and web developers, Coda is a great tool.

Aperture
Aperture is Apple’s professional photo archiving and editing application. It includes many advanced tools that a lot of photographers find essential.
I personally use Aperture to store all of the pictures I take. It provides an easy way for me to capture RAW directly to the computer for viewing, almost instantly. I am sure Aperture will please almost any photographer on your list.
Aperture is available for $199 directly from the Apple Online Store or an Apple Retail Store.
QuickTime Pro
QuickTime Pro is a necessity for me. When it comes to dealing with video on the web, it’s still not so easy, but QuickTime Pro makes it easier. Rather than uploading a video to an online service and waiting them to transcode it before displaying it, you can do it on your mac.
QuickTime Pro is available both Macs and PCs for $29 from the Apple Online Store or an Apple Retail Store.
