First real iPhone 3G unlock appears

by Josh Holat on Dec 22, 2008 at 05:38 PM

iPhone 3GIf you’ve been eagerly waiting for the iPhone Dev Team to unlock the iPhone 3G so you could use it and its wonderful new features on any carrier like the old iPhone, your wait will soon be over. With news that the official unlock will be released on New Year’s Eve, there is now a demo video floating around the web of a legitimate iPhone 3G unlock demo. This version of the unlock is being called yellowsnOw, most likely to fit with the weather we have been having lately.

So, there is it, the official iPhone 3G unlock. Hopefully, this unlock doesn’t break any of Apple’s own software, and works like magic. Not only would this help to make the iPhone 3G and even better phone, it is just another display for Apple to show how much people want this phone on other networks. If Apple were to open it up to these other networks on their end, I’m sure we would see another sales burst.
