First 10.6 screenshots appear; looks just Like 10.5

Snow Leopard
Orchard Spy has released a few screenshots of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and while they look the same as Leopard, (Leopard looked like Tiger once, too) they do tell us some preliminary things about the new OS.

First, we have System Preferences running under Snow Leopard. Notice the title bar’s “(32-bit)” clarifier. This most likely means the entire OS will be 64 bit when development is done (this perhaps lends credence to the goodbye Carbon rumors.)

System Preferences

Below is the “About this Mac” screen. This reveals that Snow Leopard, as of right now, at least, does run on 32-bit systems, though it was never likely they would exclude 32 bit systems made so recently. The other About window screenshot (available at Orchard Spy) reveals the build number - 10A96.

The final image shows us two things: first, that PowerPC has not yet been abandoned (as given by the “Universal” indicators), and second, that Apple is working on a new version of Boot Camp for 10.6.
