Filemaker updates Bento preview

by Jordan Satok on Dec 13, 2007 at 05:00 AM

Filemaker released an update to the public beta verson of Bento, their personal database application for Mac. Bento is a Leopard only application and makes us of some Leopard only features. Check out the list of new functionality, from the Filemaker website, below:

  New functionality includes:

      * Quick Look support inside Bento – With the addition of the Leopard Quick Look feature to any Files List field in Bento, you can see documents, images, text files, PDF documents, movies, Keynote presentations, Mail attachments - even Microsoft Word and Excel files - from within Bento before actually opening them.
      * iTunes-style search on numbers and dates – Now you have the ability to do a simple search on numbers and dates using the iTunes style simple search box.  Prior versions had the ability to search on text only via the iTunes search box with all numerical and date-based searches requiring use of the Advanced Find feature. Now it’s even easier to find what you’re looking for.
      * New Summary Row stats – More intuitive statistic titles in the Summary Row now show the “Earliest” and “Latest” values for columns that include dates and times.

If you have not yet tried out Bento, you can download the public beta for free from bentotrial.com. This version of the beta will expire on February 14, 2008 (Valentine’s Day).
