FCC wants to talk to Apple about Google Voice app

google voice centralAs everyone and their grandmother knows, Apple recently took down an application from Google that interfaced with their newer Google Voice service. While this has created some crazy uproar on the internet, Apple has remained quiet about the whole fiasco (as usual) when it comes to their App Store. However, I have a feeling that Apple won’t be able to ignore the FCC.

This Friday, the Federal Communications Commission sent a letter to Apple asking them why Google Voice was rejected and what other similar apps have been rejected with it. Furthermore, the FCC also wants to know if AT&T played any role in the decision to take this application down as it offers an interesting sort of competition to their network. It is nice to see the FCC finally stepping in on some of these App Store issues, and I think this dispute is the perfect place for them to start.
