CES 2010: Eye-Fi announces 8GB Pro X2 wireless SDHC card

by Jake Gaecke on Jan 5, 2010 at 04:30 PM

Eye-Fi Pro X2Eye-Fi has announced their newest wireless SDHC memory card, called the Pro X2.  It builds on the first Eye-Fi Pro card with more storage space, faster memory speed, faster network access and more features to keep you wanting it.

The Eye-Fi Pro X2 has 8GB of space and is Class 6, meaning it’s fast enough for most purposes, including shooting tons of high megapixel pictures fast. It’s more of a Pro card than the original in every sense of the word Pro. It also has support for 802.11 N, so it’s fast and its range will be expanded.

As if that wasn’t enough to make you salivate, Eye-Fi has updated their desktop app. It’s now called the Eye-Fi Center, and it lets you send your media to multiple locations. Oh, and how about this: Endless Memory. This makes it possible for the card to delete images that have already successfully been uploaded to the internet, your computer or both.

I’m really looking forward to the Endless Memory feature. It seems like a great feature, and really something for which the card has been begging for some time. The wireless N support is great as well. In places where N is available, you’ll be able to save battery life as a result of faster uploads. This also increases your range, allowing you to upload easier than ever.

The card is available for preorder at Eye.Fi or on Amazon for $149.99.
