Evidence for the next generation iPhone model?

by Jake Gaecke on Jan 29, 2009 at 07:15 AM

Rumored iPhone model 1,2MacRumors has found evidence in the newest firmware release from Apple for a next generation iPhone model.

The evidence can be found in the file named USBDeviceConfiguration.plist in an unencrypted firmware. Basically, it just references a model that has never been referenced before, model 2,1. Model numbers do not change for storage increases, as all first generation iPhones carried the same model designation, 1,1, as do all 3G iPhones, 1,2.

We’ve heard things about the future of the iPhone. It’s possible and likely that it could include a faster processor and maybe even be multicore. June is around the time when Apple thinks about releasing iPhone revisions. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? A healthy Steve and a new iPhone would definitely make my summer brighter.
