Ergonis Software releases PopChar X 4.0

by Josh Holat on Jun 16, 2008 at 11:39 AM

PopCharHot on the trail of a recent Typinator release, Ergonis Software has now updated PopChar (an app that has been around for 20 years) to version 4.0. PopChar sits in your menu bar and allows you to easily type umlauts and other foreign characters. Simply click the “P” on the top of your screen and then choose a character from the table that drops down.  It supports both ASCII and Unicode characters, so you won’t have to worry that the key you are looking for isn’t there. Here is a list of updates:

  • New “All” view displays all available Unicode characters in any installed font.
  • Context menu now contains a new command for copying the selected character’s Unicode name.
  • PopChar now uses transparent menu bar icons that better match the appearance of Leopard’s menu bar.

With both Typinator and PopChar, it seems like the main goal over at Ergonis Software is to save web developers time when coding their websites. With simple to use applications and tons of built in characters and snippets, they know just the way to do it. Be sure to check out one of these apps and let us know how you like them. Does they save a lot of time?
