City of Heroes comes to Mac OS X

by Patrick Lutz on Jan 9, 2009 at 02:46 PM

City of Heroes

Another popular MMO, known as City of Heroes, has made its way to the Mac OS X operating system. Mac users already have other popular MMOs such as EVE Online and World of Warcraft, and this is just another addition. Even though it took quite a while for NCsoft to port the game over to OS X, their widely popular superhero massively multiplayer online game is finally available for Mac gamers. On a positive note, there is no annoying DRM on the release of the game, and the port generally runs very well on OS X.

As promised by NCsoft, the “special edition” of the game for Macs is a digital release, and comes along with the City of Villians expansion, as well as a free month of online gameplay (since there’s a subscription fee like with many other MMO games). Two exclusive in-game items are also included: a Mission Teleporter power (to get you directly into missions), and a “Valkyrie costume set. The game is priced quite cheap, at only $19.99 (but I suppose the online subscription fee makes up for that), and can be purchased on NCsoft’s web site as well as in retail stores that sell video games for Macs.
