Net Applications has release market share stats for the browser category updated as of November 2008, and they show some pretty interesting numbers. This data, which aggregates some 40,000 corporate and ecommerce websites, is reviewed by Quality Assurance. Are you ready for some numbers?
On top of the list, as usual, is Microsoft’s Internet Explorer with a 69.77% market share, which is down by almost 2% from last month. This 2% appears to have gone to both Mozilla’s Firefox and Apple’s very own Safari, as they each increased about 1%, coming in at 20.78% and 7.13% respectively.
Google’s Chrome, which has been out for about two months now, has quickly made its way to about 1 whole percent, coming in at 0.83%. That said, the iPhone, with its mobile Safari, is among the leading portable platform when it comes to browser market share, with 0.37% total. These numbers show some success for both Mozilla and Safari; two browsers that, in my opinion, are superior to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which has been at the top for a long time now. I hope we see this trend contine in the future.
