Boxee named “America’s Next Top Gadget”
Hey you know what would be great? If there was a way to play Hulu without going to the website. Or while we’re at it wishing, why not CBS and Comedy Central too? Yeah, that would be great. If only it were possible…
Wait what? It is possible? I can watch Hulu and CBS on my Apple TV... like full episodes, movies and clips and stuff? Seriously?
Seriously. And all you need is to get America’s Next Top Model Gadget as selected by the Consumer Electronics Association. Well, it’s not really a gadget, it’s really a piece of software. I’m speaking about Boxee of course.
Yesterday, Boxee was chosen for America’s Next Top Gadget by a panel of judges you may recognize. The panel included Ryan Block from gdgt, Molly Wood from Cnet, Jeff Pulver (VOIP/Online TV pioneer, and Kevin Kelly from Wired. I think it’s safe to say that if this group of people likes Boxee, you should at least give it a look.
Not to be slowed down by receiving praise, Boxee updated their media application to support Hulu, CBS, Comedy Central, and MySpaceTV streaming content yesterday as well. That means you can watch short clips, full TV episodes and even movies without going to their respective websites. Even better, this all works on the Apple TV as long as you install Boxee on it.
Oh yeah, they’ve also improved the interface, performance and some other stuff…yawn (just kidding, that’s awesome too). So, to sum it up, Boxee is harder, better, faster and stronger, but you don’t have to write it on your hands and video tape it, though you could watch that on Boxee if you don’t already know what I’m talking about.
If you still don’t know what Boxee is, check out this video below.
So, for everyone who already has an invite to Boxee, go download the update and experience the newest version of America’s Next Top Gadget. And if you don’t have an invite, either go to Boxee’s site and request one, or maybe, just maybe, leave a comment and I’ll see if I can still hook you up.
