BeejiveIM for iPhone 2.0 now available
BeejiveIM has recently announced the availability of their newest update to their instant messaging app for the iPhone. This app has a ton of features for IMers on the go, and can almost replicate the functionality of a desktop app.
Let’s start with services. It supports AIM, MSN, Yahoo, MySpace, GoogleTalk, ICQ, and Jabber, to name a few. Plus, after talking with the developers, they’re working on incorporating Facebook chat as well into a future update.

BeejiveIM now also supports file transfers. You can send and receive files that are supported normally by iPhone: pictures, videos, PDFs, MS Office documents, etc. You can even record a voice note and send it to your IM buddies. Now, if only they could add the option for full on voice chat. Other apps are doing it, so I’m guessing it’s possible in a future update.
Plus there are customization options included. One of those options is the choice of different notification sounds (more than just the default sounds for each service).
One thing that that the Beejive app doesn’t come with is their booth babes. Did I just think of a way to save Macworld?
Kai Yu, founder and CEO of Beejive about the app, said, “We created BeejiveIM to address the lack of reliable, user-friendly instant messaging applications available to mobile users. The fact that we were widely viewed as the top social networking app of 2008 demonstrates what a need there was for such a service. Now, with BeejiveIM 2.0, we are able to offer iPhone users a rich collaboration platform, where they can do everything from exchange their favorite MP3s to get a colleague a needed PDF in seconds flat. We are excited to see what our BeejiveIM community will accomplish with these new tools.”
The app is available on the App Store now for $14.99.
