Beefed up iPhone security on the horizon?

by Josh Holat on Jul 24, 2008 at 04:34 PM

OS X SecurityA recent career opening from Apple for a job entitled “iPhone Security Engineer” can only mean that Apple wants to improve the security on their iPhones. This full time job would have the employee working at Apple’s Cupertino office. What’s to be expected? The employee would have to “... validate the security architecture for the iPhone,” and would be given the “... opportunity to have a major impact on Apple’s embedded operating system products.” Sounds pretty tempting.

It’s good to see that Apple is looking to fill a position in this field. The iPhone is a hugely popular device with millions of users, so security is very important to the success of the product. With recent attacks aimed at Mobile Safari, users needs to know they can trust having so much personal data on their mobile devices. I’m sure whoever Apple picks to fill this position will do a great job at it.
