AT&T to extend hours on December 26th

by Michael Mistretta on Dec 24, 2007 at 04:17 PM

AT&T

Ah, the old business trick. Sell a product before Christmas, and sell the accessories after. Well, AT&T is at it again. This year, they are planning to extend their hours of shopping in their AT&T stores the day after Christmas—December 26th.

“Wireless devices and services, and especially the iPhone, are at the top of many holiday wish lists this year, and many will be looking for new accessories for their new handsets the day after Christmas,” said Paul Roth, president of sales and marketing for AT&T’s wireless business. “We’re opening our doors early in as many locations as possible and adding extra staff to accommodate the needs of these customers.”

“Accommodate the needs”, eh? Sounds to me like you are just trying to rake in as much dough as you can. Sell the iPhone, and then make all your money on the accessories. Is that how it is AT&T? They are opening most of their 1800 stores as early as 7:00AM to sell the accessories. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I wouldn’t go out shopping at 7AM the morning after Christmas. Good luck with that AT&T.
