AT&T not too pleased with iPhone unlocking

Several weeks ago, Uniquephone, a UK-based company announced that they were close to unlocking the iPhone without any hardware hacks. As of yesterday afternoon, the software was apparently ready for shipping; unfortunately AT&T didn’t seem too pleased with their efforts.

According to a blog post on the iPhone Unlocking blog, a “Silicon Valley law firm” contacted the developers, with the intention of “slowing down the release of the software”. Unfortunately, Uniquephone’s method is still a secret, at least until AT&T’s lawyers decide otherwise. Stay tuned for more updates.
