Army recruiting center based on Apple Stores

Apple Store 5th AvenueThe United State Army, currently in need of new recruits, is trying out a new way of drawing people into their recruiting centers: Apple’s way. That’s right, the United State Army is following Apple’s lead and creating an experimental recruiting center in late August at a location that has yet to be determined. This experimental building will consist of “virtual simulations and other experiential marketing techniques to engage visitors.” If it turns out to be successful, “many centers will be opened around the country.” 

The virtual simulations aren’t small; they will have 270 degree video screens and full scale army equipment mock ups.

Robert Passikoff, “ex-military man” and president of Brand Keys (a brand customer loyalty planning consultancy based in New York), believes, “This is a way of engaging possible recruits in a way that may get someone interested and eventually convinced. It makes a lot of sense given how the media environment has changed. It isn’t just a matter of providing information, it is a matter of experiential outreach that is really able to provide a broader range of connectivity.” It seems as if they have thought long and hard about this, and it surely is a very interesting idea when it comes to recruiting troops. I hope it works out great for the Army because we could always use more troops to defend our country.
