Triple Shot Sports is a brilliant game. The graphics, gameplay and development are all great. If you were a fan of Olympic-style games, or shooting games in general, you’ll really like Triple Shot Sports.
Gameplay
With three types of shooting and multiple tournaments available, it’s unlikely you’ll be bored within a few hours. All three shooting sportsArchery, Running Target & Rapid Fire Pistolare varied and exciting. They require different skills, and have different tactics to succeed. World Records feature on all three, giving you something to aim for until you become the record holder yourself. But just how easy is it to beat these targets. Well, other than your gaming skills, you’ll have the wind to battle against. Shown in the top-left corner, an arrow will show you the wind direction and the speed it’s going. You’ll have to contradict this as you aim to still hit the targets.
Controlling your aim, is simple. With just one finger on a smaller target board shown in the bottom-right corner, you hold down and slide across as necessary. As you move, you’ll see the cross-hair move on the main screen too. When you’re all set, the wind’s compensated for and you’re sure you’ll hit bulls-eye, simply release your finger and the arrow or bullet will fire.
As you’d expect, the CPU competitors are quite easy to beat. After the first few go, you’ll find yourself being ahead of the others, but just short of the record. Still, you’ll set a new personal best for yourself, and most likely take to the podium. If you are feeling better than the rest, and becoming slowly bored of taking first place all the time (not sure how, but still), then Pro and Advanced levels await for you. If it’s not already obvious, these are harder than the Rookie level, and so the CPU competitors try just a little harder to knock you off the top spot. You’ll find beating the world records more of a challenge too.
Graphics
The game’s graphics are some of the best you’ll find on the iPhone/iPod touch. They show just what is capable on the device, and provide a good benchmark for other developers. Of course, during movement, some of the edges can become pixelated, but come onthis is no HD screen before you. The menus are nicely designed, too, using smooth swipe motions to find a choice. The graphics throughout the entire game are very nice to look at, and only enhance the game’s experience.
Final Thoughts
As you’ve probably gathered, this is a great game. For the low price of $2.99, why wouldn’t you take this one for a spin? Superb graphics for three levels featuring three shooting sports spanning multiple tournamentswhat’s not to like? If shooting’s your thing, or you love olympic style games, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with Triple Shot Sports. I’d love to see more titles coming from this developer. Incorporating track and field events into the mix, and then producing an all out full olympics game. If they could use the formulas for new titles, they’re definitely onto a winner.
