When I originally reviewed pFlix, a Netflix management app for iPhone, I found it to be buggy and unstable to the point of calling it unusable. But now the app has been updated to v1.1, and I’m happy to say that not only have they fixed everything that was wrong with it, cool new features have been added to the program that allow you to view, manage, and share your Netflix ratings with your friends.
You can see what’s in your queue, what you’ve got at home, and your recent activity (movies returned and rated). Searching for titles, seeing your customized recommendations, as well as the top rentals and new films are also there. You can also watch trailers for films via YouTube.
What’s missing? The ability to write reviews, view your Friend list (and their queues), or leave short notes for your friends. The last however, is mitigated by pFlix’s ability to email links (Netflix links, natch) to your friends. Just open the movie’s page, hit the email button, and pFlix composes an HTML-laden message in the Mail app.
For Twitter addicts (like myself), pFlix now allows you to post your ratings to both your feed and the pFlix community with the touch of a button. You can’t customize the message, however; it’s just “User recommended movie title,” followed by your rating. Still, it’s a nice feature to have if you want the entire world to know what you thought of H.O.T.S. (some of Danny Bonnaduce’s finest work).
If you’re looking to manage your Netflix queue while away from the computer, pFlix integrates almost all the features of a desktop experience, and makes it easy to share your thoughts online. With the latest update, it’s gone from an app I couldn’t wait to delete to one of my favorites.
