Apple ups the ante, free iPod touch with Mac for college students

by Josh Holat on Jun 2, 2008 at 04:00 PM

iPod touchOn June 3rd, Apple is expected to announce its largest Back To School promo to date.  MacRumors is now reporting with a sense of certainty that this promo will now be offering a free 8GB iPod Touch to college students who buy a qualifying Mac (MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac Pro). This is great for college students and shows how motivated Apple is to expand their Touch OS platform to more users.

Not only does this give students more of an incentive to buy what may be en expensive computer for college, it also helps Apple gain a larger user base for the SDK once it comes out. This can help Apple make more money, obviously, but it can also help out developers. With more iPods out there accessing the AppStore, the more likely a developer’s chances are to sell more of their products. So, if you’re a developer who wasn’t planning on using the SDK, you may want to rethink that. We know you have some good apps waiting for use to touch use.
