Apple updates iPhone firmware to version 2.2.1

It must be the day for Apple updates. First the MacBook, then iLife ‘08 and iLife ‘09, now the iPhone! Who knows, maybe that Apple TV update isn’t too far off.
Here’s what Apple has to say on the details of firmware version 2.2.1:
iPhone 2.2.1 Software Update
This update contains bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
- Improved general stability of Safari
- Fixed issue where some images saved from Mail do not display correctly in the Camera RollProducts compatible with this software update:
- iPhone
- iPhone 3G
It seems like mostly bug fixes, no major updates. I wonder if this doesn’t have something to do with compatibility with iLife ‘09? I say it’s likely.
To get the update, connect your iPhone and go to its section in iTunes. Click “Check for Updates” and act like a yes man to all the prompts.

Just a quick heads up to anyone who’s going to download this update. I installed it, and since then, my iPhone has reset itself twice on it’s own, and I’ve reset it twice more. I received one phone call, which later dropped, and caused the phone to restart. I’m yet to be able to place another call. I’m not entirely sure that this is related to the update (it could be the cell towers around my apartment).
Sure am glad those bugs were fixed though.
