According to people who were briefed on the rumored Apple event coming up later this month, Apple does plan to announce a tablet later this month. This device would come in a 10 to 11 inch form factor, and is apparently slated to be shipped in March (the month of my birthday, perfect time, Apple). While a shipping date isn’t confirmed yet, this rough estimate is sooner that I would’ve expected. Furthermore, the sources revealed that the device is currently being created in two different materials. Whether they will both be produced and marketed or if Apple is simply deciding on a final one remains to be seen. My guess is it will be aluminum just like all of Apple’s recent models (well, if it even exists, that is).

This rumor has certainly been at the forefront of Apple rumors for quite some time now, and I’d like to see it finally squashed in one way or another later this month. I don’t think we fanboys can take any longer of waiting for a device that might not even be on Apple’s business plan for products. By the same token, I don’t think the media can take any more reporting of this device as the amount of material on it already is sickening to some. Either way, be sure to tune in on January 27th for this event.
