Apple silently drops price of iPod touch before event

by Josh Holat on Sep 9, 2009 at 08:07 AM

iPod touch price dropWhile Apple’s iPod event isn’t until later today, that didn’t stop them from already updating their store without taking it down. That’s right, Apple has dropped the price of the existing iPod touch line drastically. For example, a 32GB iPod Touch—which would have set you back $399 yesterday—is now only $279. Furthermore, the 16GB model is now only $249 from $299, and the 8GB model is $189 from $229. Pretty nice price drops if you ask me. Also, the iPod classic has seen a $20 price cut.

This is just a slim part of what we will hopefully see later today, though. It’s nice to see Apple lowering some prices early. Perhaps it is simply to compete with the Zune, a product that Microsoft has continuously priced a little lower than the iPod equivalents.
