Apple “dominates” in customer satisfaction

by Kirk Hiner on Apr 20, 2009 at 11:53 AM

Happy Apple CustomerMacworld has reported on a Forrester computer manufacturer customer satisfaction survey released Friday in which, “Apple not only topped the list, it blew away the competition.” The ratings were based on usefulness, ease of use and enjoyability, for all three of which I’d give Apple high marks. So, does that make me a fanboy or a satisfied customer? I guess it depends upon whom you ask. And whereas I’m not at all surprised Apple rated so highly, I am surprised by who brought up the rear: Dell.

Apple’s overall customer satisfaction rating was at 80 percent, 14 points above the closest competitor, Gateway, who came in at 66 percent. HP and Compaq were pretty close with a 64 percent and 63 percent customer satisfaction rating, respectively.

Dell brought up the rear with a satisfaction rating of 58 percent.

The data was compiled by Forrester from more than 4,500 consumer surveys. Macworld didn’t report on whether all Apple products were taken into consideration, or just the Macintosh. One would assume it’s the latter, or else public response to the new iPod shuffle would’ve brought that down a bit.
