Apple cancels plans to make 3 story Apple Store near Empire State Building

by Josh Holat on Nov 4, 2008 at 06:38 PM

Apple Retail StoreIf you weren’t aware, Apple is in possession of a rather nice plot of land located at 21-25 W. 34th St. between Fifth and Sixth avenues in New York City, which is diagonal from the Empire State Building. Since they have had this area for a few years now, many customers were expecting the retail giant to construct a two or three story brick and mortar store there, as it happens to be one of Manhattan’s busiest shopping blocks. However, Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, has now canceled all their plans of doing anything with this plot of land, leaving many people clueless.

The only real statement from Apple at this time comes from a representative who said, “We’ve made no announcement about that location and can’t comment.” There are rumors, though, that Steve Jobs himself saw a run down building across the street from the location and said it wasn’t for Apple,. At the end of the day, the only information known about this area of land now is that Apple is leasing it through Robert K. Futterman starting April 1, 2009. What are your thoughts?
