Apple announces iPod Touch

The moment we’ve all been waiting for, Apple has officially announced the iPod Touch. The device is essentially an iPhone, minus the phone. It includes the great iPhone look, a touch-screen display, iPhone-like CoverFlow, even Wi-Fi with Safari and YouTube.
The iPod Touch comes in only a glossy black, just like the iPhone. The device includes the same great UI of the iPhone, minus a few icons on the home screen.

The iPod features of this device are identical to those of the iPhone with the ability to scroll CoverFlow with 1 finger and easily flip through menus to select and play songs. The device also includes the same video features of the iPhone.
The iPod Touch also includes the Wi-Fi abilities of the iPhone which includes a full Safari browser, and even a YouTube video player all built-in. So you can now listen to music, check your email, play around on Facebook, and watch YouTube videos all from your iPod.

The iPod Touch comes in 8 and 16GB versions and costs only $299 for the 8GB and $399 for the 16GB version. It is set to ship towards the end of the month, September 28th according to Apple’s online store.
It will be interesting to see how hackable this device is over the next few months.
