Apple accepting entries for Apple Design Awards 2009

by Kirk Hiner on Apr 3, 2009 at 03:55 PM

Apple Design Awards 2009Think you’ve got the best iPhone app out there? Best Mac OS X program? Well, if you’re an Apple Developer Connection (ADC) member or registered iPhone developer, from now through May 4th you can now submit your app for consideration in the Apple Design Awards 2009. The “best designed applications” will be honored at this year’s WWDC, to be held June 8-12 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA.

From Apple’s website:

The Apple Design Awards reward and celebrate technical excellence, innovation, and outstanding achievement in iPhone and Mac software development. Each year, winning products set new standards for usability, performance, technology integration and adoption. This year’s winners will raise the bar even higher.

iPhone awards will be presented to:

  • Up to four winners who have designed applications using iPhone SDK for iPhone SDK 2.2.1 (applications must be released versions and available on the App Store).
  • One winner who has designed an application using iPhone OS 3.0 beta (application must be a pre-release version).
  • One student winner who has designed an application using iPhone SDK for iPhone SDK 2.2.1 (application must be a released version and available on the App Store).

Mac OS X awards will be presented to:

  • Up to four winners who have designed applications using Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (applications must be released versions).
  • One winner who has designed an application using Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (application must be a pre-release version).
  • One student winner who has designed an application using Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (application must be a released version).

Prizes include MacBook Pros, Cinema Displays, iPhone, iPods and more. Almost makes me wish I’d spent my high school and college years learning to write code instead of learning to write novels about UFOs and pointless robots.
