App Store free apps round-up - September 19, 2008
This week saw a flood of new apps on the App Store. And with a flood of new apps comes at least a small stream of quality freebies for you and me.
- BiiBall 3D Lite - Try out BiiBall 3D with this lite version to see if you like it. You roll a ball through a course, avoiding obstacles and shooting cubes. The developer really wants to sell this one, that’s why they’ve put the full game on sale at $.99. You’ve been warned.
- Chess Puzzles - So you think you’re pretty good at chess, huh? Here’s the one for you. It has 50 chess puzzles set up with different levels of difficulty to keep you puzzled for some time.
- Cactus Voice Dialer - Voice dialing on the iPhone has finally been freed! Now you can dial your contacts without scrolling through an endless list and finding the right number. Just say “dial” and the contact’s name, optionally with a number identifier, such as “home.”
- Graphing Calculator - I bet you can’t guess what this is. School is back in full swing, so chances are you might have a pretty good use for an extra calculator. I have a small collection of my own, but I seem to never be able to get enough. And who could complain about a free graphing calculator? I’m betting the thought of this makes TI want to charge you money. Graphs can be sent as emails, so you can turn in a perfect graph on your next assignment.
- Knots - Here’s a game, kind of like Twister, to put your fingers into…well, knots. A spot appears on the screen, all you have to do is keep a finger on it until it disappears. And no cheating! One hand only.
- QuizTunes - This is my favorite pick of the week. I know someone who would just have a blast playing this game with me. The game loads up a 20 second sample of popular songs and gives you 4 choices as to who it is. All you have to do is get the artist right and you’re in the points. This really looks like a lot of fun. Give it a download and have some fun for my sake.
