App Store free apps round-up - October 3, 2008

App Store free apps round up for October 3rd, 2008With Apple’s recent changes to the App Store, I was honestly afraid that I wouldn’t be able to provide a long list of free apps and games for you to try out this weekend. If you’ve noticed, Apple removed the All Apps section the App Store, which provided users with a great way to see all of the newest apps to drop. But thankfully, I was wrong. I still found a nice long list to clutter up your home screen.

  • iBowl - If you liked last week’s iGolf, then this is for you. It’s like bowling on Wii Sports. Swing your device like it was a bowling ball, just don’t let go. That would be really bad.
  • Movies - This is just like the app BoxOffice, but with more features. Not only can you find details about movies that are playing at your local theatre, but you can also get detailed information about DVDs, as well as links to trailers, IMDB and RottenTomatoes. Give it a try, maybe you’ll like it better than BoxOffice.
  • Solitaire City Lite - If Sol Free Solitaire isn’t doing it for you, then give this one a try. It has Double Klondike and Spiderette. You can listen to your own music while playing in either landscape or portrait. There’s even a training system.
  • Bloomberg - Does the stock market have your blood pressure in the danger zone? I’m not saying this will help, but if you just have to know your stock info all the time, then this is the way to do it. Much better that Apple’s built in Stocks app.
  • CBS EyeMobile - Get breaking news right on your iPhone. Not only can you read the news, you can actually submit some news, too. Take pics and submit them to CBS to tell the story.
  • MySpace Mobile - We all talk about Facebook like it’s the only social network, but that simply not true. I may find Facebook to be better, but you might be in love with MySpace. Take MySpace with you everywhere with this app. You can message, upload pics, post comments and search for new friends.
  • James Bond 007 - Access behind the scenes content for the new Bond flick, Quantum of Solace. There are videos and more for you to experience. Help make the wait for the next Bond movie that much harder by downloading this app.
  • Pop Quiz - It’s a trivia game, with 10 Pop Culture categories. Recently updated to version 1.5, it now has double the questions of version 1.0, and promises more tweaks, and double the questions of the current version for version 2. If it keeps increasing like this, chances are it will have every question known to man. Get it while it still fits on your iPhone.
  • Sudoku Solver - Does sudoku drive you nuts? Well then why not do what all your friends did in middle school… cheat. Just put in your sudoku board and it does the thinking for you. As long as it’s possible, it will spit out the answer. Go ahead and try it… cheater.
