Aperture 2.1 takes an Editor’s Choice Award

by Josh Holat on Jun 20, 2008 at 04:58 PM

Apple Aperture 2
Aperture 2.1 has been given an Editor’s Choice Award for imaging software from PopPhoto.com. Just last year, Aperture received 2007 Imaging Software of the Year from this same website, so this isn’t Aperture’s first time in the limelight. One of the reasons the people over at PopPhoto chose this product was that it “...simply changed the way we work with digital photographs.” That’s quite a big statement to make about a piece of software. The article states, “Version 2.1 is faster overall, with RAW browsing accelerated by quick-loading JPEG previews and file export now operating in the background,” showing just another reason to love Aperture.

Despite all of these accolades, Aperture can still boast about “its biggest advance,” which is “the ability to host third-party plug-ins.” This was a highly claimed feature in v2.1 and Apple even added their own great plug-in: Dodge & Burn. Congratulations to Aperture and its development team on bringing the software so far and making it so good. Without you guys, our images would look like utter crap (well, some of us anyways).  Aperture will cost you $199.00, and there is a trial available.
