Anonymous source leaks next gen iPhone details
Word on the street says that the next gen iPhone won’t be quite the upgrade that we (and by we I’m totally just talking about me) wanted to see. If anonymous sources are to be trusted, you can expect a minor bump upwards to all interesting components.
The supposed leak comes from a Chinese forum named Weiphone (thanks to MacRumors for keeping an eye on it). The forum is known for credible leaks, but not necessarily this particular poster. Let me cut to the chase, or at least the details:
- 600MHz CPU Speed (up from 400MHz)
- 256MB RAM (up from 128MB)
- Digital Compass and FM
- 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus
- 32GB size
- No major changes in battery, screen and external casing.
This would represent an obvious progression from the iPhone 3G, also known as completely boring. The rumored iPhone has a model number MB717LL complete with 32GB of storage space as seen above in the image. I can’t say I don’t believe this, but I hate the idea of Apple becoming dull and obvious. I’m choosing to believe that either this isn’t completely true or that Apple has an ace up its sleeve somewhere still. Apple doesn’t need to keep introducing amazing new features to continue selling iPhones, but I hope they do it anyway. That’s half of what makes owning an Apple product different.
The biggest feature I don’t see here that I wish I did was an extra camera for video chatting. As far as I see it now, I wouldn’t upgrade to this rumored iPhone without the video chatting feature. What features would you need to entice an upgrade / purchase?

I’d upgrade just to get 32G rather than 16G. I find 16G much too small to keep most of my music & videos, not to mention photos & apps.

Charging in between shouldn’t be necessary. It should last for a solid 8 hours working at full tilt (in my opinion).
on May 13, 2009 at 07:37 AM - LINKI think the 3.2 megapixel upgrade is great, but the camera is still usless with out a flash which is standard on almost all phones these days!
on May 14, 2009 at 07:39 AM - LINKmore storage is amazing idea…I don’t understand why they are stuck in this 16/32 gb thing…when the ipod classic is 120gb…why can’t they do that with the iphone?
and as far as a flash would be nice…but don’t expect it because almost all phones DON’T have a flash
