10 more games added to iMac/Mac OS Classic game giveaway

by Kirk Hiner on Dec 6, 2008 at 09:16 AM

Appletell iMac GiveawayEarlier this week, Appletell announced our Mac OS Classic game giveaway in which we’re handing out up to 40 games for Mac OS Classic, and even giving you a 400MHz Indigo iMac so you have something on which to play them. We’re starting out with 10 games to be awarded (of the winner’s choosing from the games available), and adding 10 more for each 100 entries we received. Well, we’re on the verge of 100, so we’re just going to go ahead and bump it up to 20. We’re like that.

The winner will get his/her choice of some pretty fantastic games from Apple’s history: Bungie Mac Action Pack (featuring the Marathon games), Fly!, Oni, Rainbow Six, Rune, Star Wars: Dark Forces, Unreal Tournament, Virtual Game Station (which allows you to play PlayStation 1 games on your Mac), and much more.

To win, all you have to do is agree with me (which everyone should, anyway, because I’m informed). The four worst Mac OS Classic games of all time are Beachhead 2002, Deer Hunter, Phantasmagoria and Survivor: The Interactive Game. If you agree with me on which is the worst (or are effective at multiple choice lying), you’ll be entered into a random drawing for the iMac and the games. The answer is posted here at Appletell (searching for “Mac games” is a good way to find it), but if you’re feeling lucky, you can just vote right now. Of course, we highly suggest you read the rules and disclaimer first (this is an old iMac, after all), and also check out the complete list of games to be awarded.

  • I just bought a new iPod Touch 32GB, and am trying to get it setup.  Unfortunately it would be ideal to pay games on when I was not home, and had the time, but since when at home I am so busy, I do not have even a single game on my 24” iMac as far as I know (but I really don’t know for sure).  How can I download some free games and get them on my iPod.  I don’t have the foggiest idea of what to do to insure they get on both the desktop and the iPod.

You can’t play iPod games on your iMac, anyway, so I wouldn’t worry about that.

If you’re looking simply for free games for the iPod touch, simply go to the App Store by launching iTunes on your iMac and clicking “iTunes Store” on the left. You’ll then select “App Store” in the “iTunes STORE” window. Select “Games” in the window below that, and you’ll be able to start browsing all the games available for the iPod touch. At the bottom right of iTunes is the Top Free Apps window. You can find the free games in there.

Once you’ve found a game you want, simply buy it (or download it, if it’s free). Once it’s on your computer (you’ll need an iTunes account to do that, of course), you just need to sync up your iPod to get the game over there. You can find Apple’s instructions on how to that that here.
