The “I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC” Apple ads have now been around for quite some time, and we all laugh every time a new one comes out. A new website, “And I’m a Mac,” is simpler than the Apple ads themself, and lets anyone write up a “I have the power to revolutionize the world, and I’m a Mac” phrase for the site. The site lets Mac fanboys show why they loving using a Mac, and lets PC fanboys come and trash the Mac. After each page refresh you’ll find a new phrase, I did that a bunch of times and came up with a few favourites…

Videos mocking and showing off Apple and its products have been on YouTube forever, but just recently (September 25th, 2008), a channel claiming to be the official channel has showen up on the web. The Official Apple’s Youtube channel on the popular video sharing site YouTube looks rather skeptical. Apple generally doesn’t join other sites, so this may not be theirs. And, with the backround picture, it doesn’t look too conviencing. If Apple was to join YouTube, or if this really is their channel, they could use it to put up tutorials and ad campaigns, and even host a VLog. Currently, the channel hosts 25 videos, but we would expect many more since these went up in the first few days.

If you thought a product that allows you to dock your iPod to a freezer would never come to market, Gorenje has proven you wrong. Gorenje recently signed a contract with Apple to allow the use of their devices in refrigerators. The company calls the Apple device, “the cult iPod touch.” With that in mind, the features are more amazing than the idea may sound. The fridge features a docking station which can charge the iPod, play music and video via built-in speakers, and connect to the internet, if wifi is available in the kitchen (or wherever you place you fridge). Gorenje recently launched a site full of cooking and other household tasks. With them having the “Made for iPod” logo, it means that the product has been designed specifically for the iPod, following performance standards by Apple. The portal will be optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch, and is full of easy meals to make in your kitchen.

The company behind this new innovation has also added high-tech components in some of their other products, including—you guessed it—the washing machine. This allows users to control the washing mode from their iPod Touch or iPhone.

Whether you’re in a warship, aircraft or submarine, you control the battle and lead it every step of the mission. Battlestations: Midway allows you to choose a different path on which to play the game. U.S. Campaign, Naval Academy, Ship Challenge, Plane Challenge and the Submarine Challenge are the five different battles of which you can take control. So, if you’re playing the Ship Challenge and are really getting annoyed from the submarine shooting missiles at your cruiser, play as a submarine and demolish a ship.

This fast, action-packed game has stunning graphics that make you wonder if they could get any better. Leading and controlling your ship, submarine, aircraft, shipyard or airfield requires more skill than pointing and shooting, such as creating tactics to avoid the emenies and complete your mission. Each unit has its own unique features which change gameplay and keeps it interesting.

The Sims 3 has been in development since 2006, and a Mac version has been confirmed. In the typical spirit of computer games, the Mac version will come out a few months after our PC friends already have it running. While we Mac users wait a few months (the PC version isn’t due out until Q1 2009), I’ve found a few sites for some goodies to add to Sims 2. Expansion packs for the game add many new objects, clothing and other items to the game. Several fansites have put out goodies on the net for free, which allow you to add new objects, skins, hair, whatever, at no cost.

Some sites make you pay to add objects to the game. In the EA Tools End User License, it states that any third party material created for the game is owned by EA, and must be “... on your personal noncommercial website for the noncommercial benefit.” So, any sites that charge for bonus content or that have a subscription model are violating the license. What I’m trying to get to is that you shouldn’t feel guilty downloading free stuff; the pay sites are the ones who are breaking the rules.

We’ve all probably had that time when we quickly opened TextEdit or our word processor and jabbled down a few words then saved it. Because we were in such a rush, we may of forgetten what we named it. Or you just got some new pictures through your webmail and don’t have time to upload them to MobileMe or Flickr, so you just drag them to a folder. I’m sure there are a lot of other scenarios, but how do we find that missing file?

After owning my iPod for a few months, I decided to purchase a few games to play while listening to some tunes and podcasts. Pole Position: Remix was one of them. After playing one race, I quickly felt the style of gameplay was much different. Your average racing game doesn’t force you to pause a few seconds then start racing again after you smash your car into a sign, wall or another opponent, it just dents your car. Your steering must be precise or you’ll end up going into a puddle or gas spill, crashing, then starting up again a few seconds later. While it can get annoying when you have the almost natural instinct to crash into other cars and knock them off the road, Pole Position: Remix does bring the classic 80s style of gameplay to your iPod.

The iPod Death Clock gives you an unaccurate guess as to when your iPod will die. I’ve had two iPods die in my iPod career, and would’ve found it handy to have an idea when to take mine in for repair before it was too late.

Ivan Seidenberg, Verizon boss, isn’t a good friend of Steve Jobs, or at least isn’t now. When interviewed by the Financial Times, he said that, “Steve Jobs eventually will get old.” Verizon Wireless recently bought Alltel, the fifth-largest US wireless company. With the addition of Alltel, Verizon Wireless will surpass AT&T to become the leading mobile operator in the U.S., or fifth largest in the world. With 80 million customers, revenue has also gown 5.8 percent in 2007. Mr. Seidenberg is sure Verizon Wireless will take a large chunk of the revenue from the growing mobile Internet.

“There goes the conspiracy again,” [Seidenberg] says of Apple. “You’re declaring them a winner before they’ve earned it on the field.” Jobs has no monopoly on innovation, he cries.

Maybe he’s just a little frustrated that Verizon turned down the offer to put the iPhone on their network? I mean, what else? Seidenberg’s older than Steve!
